感恩节的由来
每年11月的第四个星期四是美国最具特色的重要节日——感恩节。
最初，感恩节没有固定日期，由各州临时决定，直到美国独立后，感恩节才成为全国性的节日。
1863年，美国总统林肯宣布每年十一月的第四个星期四为感恩节，感恩节庆祝活动便定在这一天。同中国的春节一样，感恩节这一天，人们不管多忙，都要与自己的家人团聚、共度佳节。

Thanksgiving holiday is symbolized by its traditional food, a large bird called turkey. But turkey is certainly not from Turkey.
火鸡这一道传统食物成为美国感恩节的象征。但此turkey（火鸡）并非来自于彼Türkiye（土耳其）。
In fact, its English name is based on one big mistake.
其实，该名字是因为一个失误造成的。
有两种很相似的鸟。一种是产自非洲的鸟叫珍珠鸡。葡萄牙商人将珍珠鸡从北非带到了欧洲。珍珠鸡途经土耳其到达欧洲。
So, the English thought of the bird as a "Turkish chicken." When Europeans came to North America, they saw a bird that looked like the guinea fowl. So they give it the same name.
因此英语里将这种鸟称为 “土耳其鸡” 。欧洲人到达北美时，看到了与珍珠鸡相似的鸟。以为它们是同样的鸟，就以同样的名字命名了美洲火鸡。
百年之后，人们还用 “turkey” 称呼北美火鸡，虽然这种鸟与土耳其甚至欧洲没有任何关系。
