World Book Day is officially known as World Book and Copyright Day, which falls on April 23 every year.This date marks the anniversary of the death of the Spanish writer Cervantes and the English writer Shakespeare, and it also originates from the traditional custom of giving books and roses in Catalonia, Spain.In 1995, UNESCO officially established this festival. Its purpose is to encourage more people to read and write, respect and protect intellectual property rights, and make reading a habit for all.
世界读书日全称为世界图书与版权日，定于每年4月23日。这一天是西班牙作家塞万提斯和英国作家莎士比亚的逝世纪念日，也源自西班牙加泰罗尼亚赠送图书与玫瑰的传统习俗。1995年，联合国教科文组织正式确定该节日，目的是推动更多人阅读、写作，尊重并保护知识产权，让阅读成为全民习惯。

Libraries, bookstores and schools in various regions hold reading sharing sessions, classic recitations, author book signings, reading lectures and knowledge competitions to create a strong reading atmosphere, encouraging people to put down electronic products and read peacefully.
各地图书馆、书店、学校会举办读书分享会、经典诵读、作家签售、读书讲座、知识竞赛等，营造浓厚阅读氛围，鼓励人们放下电子产品，静心阅读。

Book drifting activities are launched, where books are placed in public places for strangers to read and pass on for free. Second-hand book exchange markets are also held to recycle idle books and share the joy of reading.
发起图书漂流活动，将书籍放在公共场所供陌生人免费取阅、传递；也会举办旧书交换市集，让闲置书籍循环利用，分享阅读乐趣。
